Yvonne Orgill Welcomes Government Appointments to Focus on Climate Change

Unified Water Label Association MD Yvonne Orgill has welcomed the appointment of Alok Sharma as full-time President of the UN COP26 climate conference in Glasgow this November.

“The government has renewed its commitment to a greener future with this appointment,” says Yvonne. “Boris Johnson has sent a clear message by keeping Mr Sharma a member of his top team and allowing him to focus full-time on his COP26 role.

“2021 is set to be an important year for tackling climate change with Glasgow 2021 set to be crucial for gaining worldwide agreement that the carbon cuts agreed under the Paris deal can be ratcheted up.

“Countries are realising that we only have a limited time in which to act if the world is to stave off the worst effects of climate change.  The focus last year was clearly on Covid-19 but now that the vaccines are being rolled out, it will clear the way for governments to act later this year.

“The additional appointment of Anne-Marie Trevelyan as Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, is also a positive step in taking forward climate and energy policy.

“With the bathroom industry committed to aiding government by supporting the Unified Water Label, 2021 is set to be a good year for climate change and the environment.”
